Potato Chip Cookies

I am not a fan of cookies or potato chips (I know, crazy!) but when I saw this recipe on Smitten Kitchen, my curiosity was piqued. I love the sweet-salty combo…I simply had to give it a try.

I am not ashamed to admit that I licked the beaters clean. What was I supposed to do, dunk it in the sink and let the delicious batter wash away into the ether? As if!

15 minutes later, like magic…

Very buttery and therefore very rich. A bit too crumbly…don’t think I did anything wrong? Also I couldn’t really taste the potato chips! Whut! I didn’t even crush them too finely so I don’t know what’s up. But I used unsalted, maybe that’s why? I thought if I used unsalted I would have better control of the saltiness. And I thought I did. The cookie dough tasted salty enough to me. But when they baked up…no hint of saltiness, just BUTTER, ALL UP IN YO FACE. Ah. Lovely cookies all the same!

    Maybe I’ll have to make them anyway…

    1. They were good, although…well, I edited my post. Go see. Maybe I overbeat the butter, I dunno.

      But make them! I think if things go according to plan, these should be reeeally scrumptious. Don’t be a hippie like me and use unsalted potato chips. Get regular salted ones, then taste the cookie dough and adjust accordingly.
