I made this for Eid al Adha yesterday. I lessened the sugar content because the first time I made it, I felt two cups was overkill and found it to be too sweet. Well, I really should have known better than to mess around with tried-and-tested recipes. It turned out so bland, I thought I would have to throw it out. Thankfully I woke up in the morning with an idea – caramel sauce! I raced into the kitchen to make some, proceeded to pour it all over my otherwise suitable-only-for-diabetics cake, let it sit for a while and voila! The sweetness level of this cake normalised. Phew!
Everyone loved it. I got a tonne of compliments and requests to make it again. Yay!
